Bayelsa Election Ends in Controversy: Sylva Accuses PDP and Security Forces

In the shadow of the day’s end, the Bayelsa election didn’t wrap up without a storm. Timipre Sylva, the APC candidate, didn’t shy away from some finger-pointing. He cried foul, pointing fingers at the PDP and security forces, especially the Army, suggesting they were playing on the opposite team.

Speaking out after casting his vote, Sylva lamented violence in Yenagoa, even claiming an APC member got shot. He questioned why polling areas where he’s popular were getting all the unwanted attention.

He didn’t hold back, accusing the PDP of using security agents to intimidate voters. He did give a nod to INEC for some improvement but hinted at more room for betterment.

Sylva’s no stranger to Bayelsa’s political arena, having served as governor and even as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. The big showdown was between Sylva and the incumbent Governor, Duoye Diri, in what many analysts see as a two-horse race.

On the other side of the ring, Diri fired back, blaming Sylva for the electoral violence in Nembe-Bassambiri. As the election drama unfolds, stay tuned to Federal Character News for the live scoop on the Bayelsa Governorship election.
