Mary Magdalene, Bayelsa’ Queens has been crowned by CAF as the second winner of the 2022 Women’s champions league ‘Goal of the day award’, despite the team’s loss to Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
The Bayelsa Queens forward scored the only goal in their 2-1 defeat to the defending champions, Leona Dawetti bagged a brace for South Africa, and Magdalene who was brought in in the second half managed to score a consolation goal for Queens in the 81st minute.
CAF has said that Magdalene’s is the best goal scored in all four goals on the second day of the tournament.
Bayelsa Queens are to face TP Mazebe on November 3rd to move higher in group B, as only the top teams in each group can qualify for the semi-finals which are slated to take place on November 9 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat Morocco.
