Bayelsa State has allocated N5.4 billion for anniversaries and celebrations in 2024, which is more than what it plans to spend on healthcare, education, and infrastructure. The state has budgeted N1.5 billion for hospital rehabilitation, N3.9 billion for improving public schools, and N1.5 billion for repairing roads.
The state also allocated N4.3 billion for fixing residential buildings and N1.5 billion for water facilities. This decision is worrying because 95% of households don’t have proper sanitation, and 78% don’t have access to clean drinking water.
