The World Service division of the BBC announced on Wednesday the launch of an emergency radio service intended for the people of Gaza.
The program is designed to deliver the most up-to-date information, as well as safety guidance on locating shelters, accessing food, and securing water supplies for the residents of Gaza, stated the BBC.
Liliane Landor, Director of BBC World Service, emphasized, “BBC News Arabic is exceptionally positioned to provide this essential service for the people of Gaza during this critical period.”
The radio service for Gaza, produced in Cairo and London, will initially broadcast one program starting from November 3, with plans to introduce a second daily broadcast from November 10. The BBC World Service, responsible for the British broadcaster’s non-commercial international broadcasting services, has a history of launching emergency broadcasts.
