Per several reports, twotime NBA champion Kevin Durant will join the Houston Rockets in a big trade from the Phoenix Suns. In return for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th choice in the NBA Draft, and five future second-round picks, the 36-year-old forward—a past MVP and four-time Olympic gold medalist—will relocate to Houston.
Having averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists this season, Durant will join a Rockets side under coach Ime Udoka that ended 5230. The move reunites Durant with Udoka, with whom he has a close relationship dating back to their time together in Brooklyn and with Team USA.
Following a lackluster 3646 campaign despite the NBA’s highest payroll, Phoenix gets Green—who averaged 21.0 points per game—and one of the best defenders in the league, Brooks. The Suns hope the new additions will complement star guard Devin Booker and revive their playoff hopes.
Picked second overall in 2007, Durant reclaimed back-to-back championships with the Warriors before a tenure in Brooklyn and a 2023 trade to Phoenix. Though the agreement cannot be completed until the free agency moratorium of July is over, it represents a significant change for both teams going into the 2025–26 season.
