The Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden during the United Nations General Assembly scheduled to hold in New York next month (September), according to a statement made by his spokesman on Saturday, August 26.
The United Nations general assembly is slated to hold from September 18 to 26 in New York.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidency spokesman had in a statement, said that Tinubu had accepted the invitation, which had been delivered by U.S. presidential envoy and the assistant secretary of state for African affairs, Molly Phee.
The two figureheads would probably discuss the crises in Niger where Tinubu, who leads the regional bloc ECOWAS, is working with other heads of state in West Africa to find a lasting solution after a military junta ousted the seating president and seized power.
Tinubu, who has undertaken an audacious reform in his country, the boldest seen in decades, has clamoured for more U.S. investment in his home country and for a greater cooperation for the defence of democracy in West Africa, amidst the increasing coup incidents in the region.
