A chopper has just crashed in Oba Akran area in Ikeja, Lagos State, according to Channels News Television.
The Spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, Tunji Oketunbi, had confirmed this incident to our Channels Tv correspondents on Tuesday afternoon, August 1.
Additionally, an official of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, told newsmen that the chopper had exploded into flames when the incident occurred.
Fortunately, the four people (including the pilot) who were onboard the chopper had all been rescued alive and taken to a hospital nearby, according to LASEMA.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, also confirmed the copter accident, with Ibrahim Farinloye, the NEMA Zonal Coordinator for South-West, revealing that all those onboard the aircraft had survived the crash, even as the identity of the pilot was still unknown.
As at the time of writing this report, first responders from NEMA, LASEMA and examiners from the NSIB were at the scene.
Today’s accident is occurring a little over three years after a helicopter being operated by Quorom Aviation crashed into Opebi area in Lagos in August 2020.
It was said that the aircraft dropped from the sky at about 12 noon, crashing into a residential building on Salvation Road, Opebi.
The three people onboard that aircraft had all died.
