President Muhammadu Buhari has just approved the remodeling and upgrading of the Presidential Wildlife Sanctuary -PWLS, to improve the practice of conservation in the country.
The Permanent Secretary, of State House, Tijjani Umar, had the announcement in Abuja on Thursday, 15 December while welcoming a delegation of Zimbabwean wildlife experts on a week-long assessment tour of the PWLS, formerly the State House Zoo.
In a statement by Patience Tilley-Gyado, the Assistant Director, Information on Thursday, Umar stressed the importance of preserving wildlife in the seat of government, not only for recreational purposes but also for rehabilitation, research, and information.
Additionally, while highlighting that the State House was endowed with indigenous wildlife, Umar remarked that it was only proper to bring in experts for advice on the best way to encourage harmony with nature and reduce interference with wildlife habitats.
