Damini Ogulu, more famously known as Burnaboy has clinched the award for Best International Act at the 2023 edition of the Black Entertainment (BET) Awards.

The ‘Last Last’ crooner had trounced fellow nominees like Ayra Starr, Central Cee, Ella Mai and Stormzy, to snag the most coveted category of BET awards.

Unfortunately, Burna Boy had not been present at the show when he was announced the winner but his announcement had elicited a resounding applause from the crowd.

This feat is unsurprising as Burna Boy’s music journey has been great for the last couple of years.

It noteworthy to mention that he has already won a BET Award in the same category in 2019 & 2021.

With this victory, Burna Boy has cemented his record as the most awarded person in the BET Awards’ “Best International Act” category.

The Afrobeats musicians have been representing the country in a good light, internationally. According to reports, the Best International Act category has been consistently and exclusively won by Nigerian artistes since its inception, with Davido (David Adeleke), being its maiden winner.

A feat worthy of commendation.
