The Central Bank of Nigeria -CBN, has begun a massive e-Naira drive among motorcycle and tricycle operators, nationwide, in a bid to increase the subscription base of the apex bank’s digital currency.
The Director, of Information Technology of the bank, Hajiya Rakiya Mohammed, who took the e-Naira enrolment campaign to the tricycle riders aka Keke Napep at the Galadimawa Roundabout in FCT Abuja, Saturday afternoon, October 15, remarked that the e-Naira was the way to go for both high- and low-income earners.
While commenting on the initiative, Dr. Aminu Bizi, the e-Naira Consultant to the CBN, stated that as part of CBN’s efforts at driving the adoption of the e-currency for low-income earning citizens in the country, it has launched a 5 percent subsidy for both commercial tricycle riders and their customers.
