Chad has announced the suspension of visa issuance to United States citizens. This came after the U.S. included Chad on a list of 12 countries affected by a travel ban.
President Idriss Deby shared the decision on Thursday through his official Facebook page. He said the move followed the principle of reciprocity.

“I have instructed the government to act in accordance with the principles of reciprocity and suspend the issuance of visas to U.S. citizens,” Deby wrote.
He added, “Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give, but Chad has its dignity and pride.” His statement referred to Qatar’s $400 million plane gifted to U.S. President Donald Trump.
