Fati, the widow of the late Chief of Army Staff Ibrahim Attahiru, is alive, the Chief of Staff to Kaduna State Governor, Mohammed Dattijo has said.
He debunked the death of the wife in the ill-fated crash via a short message on his official social media handle.
“You are mistaken; the wife is still alive. He tweeted, “May his gentle soul rest in complete peace.”
According to the PUNCH, a Nigerian Air Force plane carrying senior military officers crashed near Kaduna.
Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff, was killed in the crash on Friday.
The Nigerian Air Force verified the air crash, which involved a NigAirForce aircraft and occurred near Kaduna International Airport, in a tweet.
In a tweet, Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said that the immediate cause of the crash was still being investigated.
The air crash that killed Attahiru and other military officers was described by President Muhammadu Buhari as “a mortal blow to our underbelly.”
President Buhari expressed sorrow that the incident occurred just as men from the Nigerian armed forces were about to put an end to the country’s security problems.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement titled “President Buhari expresses shock, sorrow over death of Lt. Gen. Attahiru, others.”
Adesina quoted the President while consoling families of the deceased, the military, and Nigerians in general as saying: “heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in the land.”
The President pledged that the departed would not die in vain.
