It is no longer news that the 2022 AMVCAs, an annual event that recognizes and celebrate excellence in the African movie industry, normally by MultiChoice, was also an upgrade from previous editions as the AMVCAs extended its awards category to digital content creators and young African movie talents from the well-known MultiChoice Talent Factory.
This year’s ceremony featured a union of both Hollywood and Nollywood stars in Nigeria, as top American actors and producers were physically part of the week-long celebration in Lagos.
Recently, as icing on the cake of the successful award show, CNN’s Africa Avant Garde recognized the AMVCA as one of Africa’s biggest award shows. This Avant Garde edition focused on the 8-day chain of activities marking the 8th AMVCAs and it featured interviews with the CEO of MultiChoice in Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe, and the Executive Head of Content, MultiChoice Nigeria, Dr. Busola Tejumola. The executives gave insight into the origins and background of the AMVCAs and the need for an award ceremony that could compete equally with global standards.
Some of the award nominees had also been featured.
