The National Youth Service Corps on Thursday, October 6, announced that four members of the 2021 Batch C stream would be repeating their service year. This was disclosed to newsmen by Namadi Abubakar, the NYSC coordinator for Bauchi State, at the collection of discharge certificates by the corps members.
According to Mr. Abubakar, the affected corps members were sanctioned for varying offenses, some of which had included: absconding and absenteeism during their service year. In the same vein, Mr. Abubakar reiterated that the scheme has zero tolerance for truancy and would not hesitate to punish any deviant corps member.
An additional 27 others would be having their service year extended for up to three weeks for various misconducts during their service year.
Abubakar also revealed that out of the 1,151 corps members who just passed out, five will be rewarded with the state honor award for their outstanding contribution towards uplifting the living standards of their host communities.
Speaking further he said that in line with the scheme’s mission of contributing to the country’s development, The scheme had posted a good number of corps medical personnel to the rural areas of Bauchi and the Bauchi State NYSC coordinator had reported that the scheme’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers -HIRD, had helped thousands of citizens in rural communities across the state.
