Media entrepreneur and former Bayelsa East senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has suggested that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, could eventually become the Governor of Osun State.
In a recent edition of his Common Sense video series, Murray-Bruce pointed out that Davido has strong political roots and the charisma needed to succeed in Nigerian politics. He highlighted the Adeleke family’s history of leadership in Osun State, noting that Davido’s interest in politics could naturally evolve into an active role.
Referring to a private conversation with the singer, Murray-Bruce said Davido sees himself as a “political animal” with defined views and ideological convictions. He said, “He is, by his own admission, a political animal with deeply held views and a clear-cut political ideology.”
This quote emphasizes that Davido is not just a casual observer of politics but someone who engages thoughtfully with political issues. It suggests that his interest is genuine and grounded in personal beliefs, not just influence.
Murray-Bruce also cited Davido’s family legacy, explaining that his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, and another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, once served as the state’s governor during the military era. This background, he argued, strengthens the idea that Davido may follow in their footsteps.
He added, “Considering all of these, the thought that Davido himself could one day aspire to become the Governor of Osun State seems more like a potential trajectory… Davido, if you run, I predict you will win.”
By saying this, Murray-Bruce was not only making a prediction but also urging Davido to consider a political future. He believes Davido’s influence, especially among the youth, could translate into electoral success.
Murray-Bruce concluded by encouraging more celebrities to explore politics, saying they bring relatable perspectives and can energize the political scene with their wide appeal.
