The aftermath of a magnitude 6.7 offshore earthquake in the southern Philippines reveals a rising death toll, reaching eight individuals, according to the country’s civil defence as reported on Sunday.
The Office of Civil Defense confirmed the tragic demise of two individuals initially missing in a landslide triggered by Friday’s quake, which struck deep off Mindanao island. The most recent casualties hail from Sarangani province, adding to the toll that also includes victims from South Cotabato and Davao Occidental province.
In addition to the lives lost, the quake left 13 people injured, inciting panic and causing substantial damage to over 50 houses and various other structures.
