Desmond Elliot Shuts Down Gay Rumors, Sets Record Straight

Nollywood star turned politician, Desmond Elliot has reacted to the recently gone viral rumors about his sexuality. His name was part of a viral list that named Nigerian celebrities who were allegedly into homosexuality and further stirred up an uproar on all social media platforms.

Elliot, in a recent interview with TVC, described the accusations as “baseless” and not even worth his time, thereby completely discrediting the effect of the rumor mill on his life. Elliot insists he is not going to allow some idle gossip to define him any more than it already has, or his career.

“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it didn’t reduce or increase my life?” he said in the interview, “As long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good. So let me state it very clearly: I am straight.”

Elliot’s candid response has gotten a mixed reaction online. Some fans praised how cool and calm he was in regard to the question and kept the attention on staying focused. Others said that silence would have been more potent. Either way, Elliot’s words reveal his determination to rise above distractions and focus on his political and public service goals.
