Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, will make his Australian Open preparations at the Brisbane International, an ATP 250 starting on December 29. The Serb, who will be gunning for a record-extending 11th Australian Open title in January, made the announcement on Wednesday.
“I’m excited to be kicking off my Australian swing at the Brisbane International and to compete again at Pat Rafter Arena,” Djokovic said in a statement.
Djokovic will join an exciting field that includes defending Brisbane champion Grigor Dimitrov, Denmark’s Holger Rune, and American Frances Tiafoe. The tournament serves as a crucial warm-up for the Australian Open, whose main draw kicks off on January 12.
The Brisbane International marks the return of Djokovic to the Australian swing in pursuit of continuing an already storied career. Pat Rafter Arena will be the place to watch an electric start to the 2024 tennis season.
