Safiu Olaniyan, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, has bemoaned the several obstacles in the efforts to evacuate Nigerians trapped in Sudan amidst the ongoing battle in the country.
The envoy, however, has appealed to the Nigerians for calm, explaining that the Nigerian embassy in Sudan was not in charge of renting buses for the evacuation of the students.
He had then disclosed to the stranded students that they were not alone in battling the hardship, as embassy officials had also been impacted by the fight in Sudan so the students should not inflict their anger and frustration on the embassy staff.
In a voice note sent to the NiDCOM Situation Room on Sunday, April 30, the ambassador explained that the Ministry of Disaster and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA were both in charge of the buses.
