Jose Mourinho, Roma’s Coach has advised Gareth Southgate, England’s manager not to drop Chris Smallings from England’s 2022 World Cup squad.
According to Roma, Smallings has learned enough and deserves to be amongst the Three Lions for Qatar.
He further said that, if he were to be the coach, he would try his best to see that he has someone with such skills and tactics on his team. Smallings according to Mourinho is no small player and he deserves a place in Gareth’s squad.
“He was taught to play in a two-man defense in Manchester, but now he’s got the perfect acumen to play in a three-man backline,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Dailmail.co.uk.
“If I were the coach of a national team, I would do anything to have someone like him at my disposal.
“I don’t think it’s a lack of respect to Southgate when I say I feel sorry for a player who’s playing at such a high level like Smalling and who won’t get the opportunity he deserves.”
England shares Group B together with Wales, Iran and U.S.A. Smallings has just one goal in 31 appearances for England.
The world cup game is already upon us, and every team is trying their best to see that they are adequately ready for the World Cup Games. Unfortunately, Nigeria would not be participating in the tournament as they failed to secure a place in the 22 World Cup Game in Qatar.
