Jodi was recovering from a critical cruciate ligament injury at the time of his death, but the cause of his death is yet to be known.
Jody Lukoki joined FC Twente last June on a 2-year deal but suffered a serious knee injury during training which led to the termination of his contract in February.
The club in response to the devastating news said “The club [FC twente] is shocked and deeply moved by this tragic event. We sympathize with his loved ones and wish them a lot of strength in processing this great loss.”
Lukowski represented Ajax, scoring five times for their first team, and went on to represent other clubs within the space of eight years. He also played for DR Congo at the senior international level, winning three caps for his country.
