Federal agents are reportedly alleged to have raided the jail cell of embattled rapper Diddy and confiscated personal notes and legal documents meant for his defense team. According to reports, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, accused prosecutors of using the materials to keep the rapper in pre-trial detention ahead of his May 2024 trial.
The complaints launched by Diddy’s lawyers come as a direct violation of the defense team’s rights, including that of Diddy’s constitutional right to prepare for a trial. Judge Arun Subramanian has been given cause to raise concerns over the conduct of the prosecutors, with a hearing due on Tuesday.
Diddy, who has been in detention since September, is now met with mounting legal challenges, as this raid brings debates from many about the rights of defendants and due process in high-profile cases.
