Mrs. Favour Igiebor’s husband has debunked that his wife did not tear his international passport as was being widely reported by news outlets in Nigeria.

Mr Igiebor who featured in the viral video had said they were only acting a skit.

In his latest video shared on the family’s Instagram page, the man had appealed to Nigerians, begging for their understanding and forgiveness in the matter.

This development is coming after the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, launched a formal investigation after a video showed Mrs Igiebor destroying a Nigerian Standard Passport of her husband at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

What They’re Saying

The distressed husband had said: “What my wife tore is not a passport, she never tore my passport, she never spoilt my passport, we are doing a skit, this is somebody’s story of what happened that we are passing to the world. But I didn’t even know it would go viral.

“Please, I’m begging everybody, this is not a passport, my passport is intact. Nobody should drag this thing to the mud.

“We are sorry, we cannot defile the law of Nigeria, we are full bonafide Nigerians, we cannot go against the law by destroying the passport of Nigeria, it is not possible.”

Why It Matters

Destroying a passport is a serious offense under Nigerian law. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) launched an investigation because such actions could lead to legal consequences.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being mindful about the content shared online and the potential consequences of such actions.
