Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has ordered security agencies in the state to set up a joint task force to fight crimes in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike, had while briefing newsmen soon after the Security Council meeting at the Government House, Abakaliki, had said the governor’s directive depended on the recent attacks by ruffians in the state.
In her words:
“The governor conveyed his concern over the incessant insecurity in the state with special reference to the incidences at Hilltop Road and Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
Thus, the Council resolved that there should be a Joint Task Force team drawn from all the Security Agencies operating in the state.”
She also disclosed that the Council had resolved that all aides working with Local Government Chairmen would be profiled with the aim to fish out new information about them, including what they were doing for their respective council areas.
According to the SSG, the security chiefs guaranteed that they would increase their efforts to address insecurity in the state.
