Edna Ibru, wife of Olorogun Felix Ibru, the first civilian governor of Delta State, has passed away.
Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru, head of the Ibru family, confirmed her death in a statement released on Saturday.
He shared that the former Miss Nigeria ambassador, who made history in 1964 as the first Nigerian and African to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant, passed away in London on Wednesday following a brief illness.
“Our amazing mother, Mrs. Edna Ibru passed into glory on Wednesday 15, January, “Until her death, she was full of life, and we never expected her to leave us so soon, but we cannot question the will of God in her precious life,’ he said.
Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru fondly recalled that the late Mrs. Ibru was someone who deeply valued people, acted as a mediator, served as a mother to many, had an extraordinary sense of humour, was profoundly compassionate, grounded, and always had a story to tell.
He also mentioned that the family would provide details of the burial arrangements at a later time.
