Chidimma Adetshina has just written her name in the history books as the first Nigerian to have reached the position of first runner-up in the Miss Universe competition. The 23-year-old wowed on the international stage, coming second to none but Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who emerged winner in the 73rd edition of the pageant.
Competing against more than 120 contestants worldwide, Chidimma gave a thrilling performance; Nigeria’s best finish so far in the competition. Miss Mexico, Thailand, and Venezuela completed the top five.
Chidimma’s feat, therefore, is a much-needed attestation to her poise, intelligence, and fast-rising recognition of the beauty and talent of Nigeria at the international levels. This has inspired lots of young Nigerians and further solidified her position as a source of hope and pride for this nation.
