The Nigeria Police Force has released Ayoola Babalola, a journalist, who was apprehended during the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests in Abuja on Saturday.

The 25-year-old journalist had been apprehended on Saturday and detained at the Wuye Police Station under the Federal Capital Territory Police Command in Abuja.

The newsreporter, Babalola was released at about 3 pm on Sunday after he was arrested on Saturday.

What They’re Saying

Babalola had said;
“Yes, I have been released. I was released around 3 pm on today (Sunday). The detention lasted for over 24 hours, but I’m home now.”

“I am grateful to all who led their voices calling for my release.”

Recall that the Civil Society organisation — Take-It-Back Movement— had in a circular, confirmed Babalola’s arrest and called for the immediate release of the journalist.

In a similar scenario, some operatives of the Department of State Services have apprehended one of the leaders of the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests in the Federal Capital Territory, Micheal Lenin.

According to reports, Lenin was picked up by the DSS around 2 am on Monday at his residence in the Apo area of the FCT.

The Director of Mobilisation, Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, had even claimed that Lenin “arrested and tortured in the presence of his family” and now, the Take It Back Movemennf were seeking for “his immediate and unconditional release.”

He alleged that the DSS also assaulted him during his arrest.

Adenola said, “ Lenin has been arrested by the DSS. He was picked up during a raid on his house around 2 am.

Meanwhile, the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, was not immediately available to get his statement as of the time of filing this report.
