The All Progressives Congress chapter in Enugu State has evicted former governor Sullivan Chime and the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, for alleged anti-party conduct.
Mr. Flavour Eze, an aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, and Eugene Odoh, the former Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly when Chime was governor of the state between 2007 and 2015, were also ejected from the party on the same charge.
On Thursday, the State Executive Committee ratified the expulsion after adopting the recommendations of a five-man disciplinary committee formed earlier this year to investigate petitions and reports of fact-finding committees that investigated allegations of anti-party activities against some party members.
The party also expelled former Senate President Ken Nnamani and Foreign Affairs Minister Onyeama for allegedly sabotaging the party and its efforts in the state.
Dr. Robert Ngwu, the party’s State Secretary, who read the resolution to journalists, regretted that the anti-party activities that these individuals had engaged in over the years could lead to a loss of support from voters and donors, which he said could harm the party’s ability to compete in elections and implement its policies.
