42-year-old Fatima Rahman, from Chad Republic, has been remanded to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre for the suspected murder of her co-wife, Adizat, which occurred at her house in Alejo Street, Ijede, in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Fatima had been arraigned on Tuesday, May 2 before Magistrate P. E Nwaka at a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba on a count of murder.
According to an eyewitness report, Mrs. Rahman had been furious when she learned that her husband had married another wife.
She then reportedly went to visit the pregnant woman in her residence under the disguise of being a nurse and thereafter stabbed the lady to death.
According to the prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, the defendant committed the offense on April 9, 2023, around 12.40 pm at 43, Alejo Street, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Meanwhile, pleas from Mrs Rahman, the defendant had not been taken in court. Thereafter, the prosecutor asked the court to remand the defendant to a custodial center until legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution could be gotten.
The case has been adjourned till May 25, 2023, for trial.
