At Wembley, Aston Villa will face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-finals after cruising through with a 3-0 win over Preston on Saturday. Nottingham Forest, who won a penalty shootout with Brighton, will play Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s side tagged Bournemouth on a grim night.
The draw came soon after Unai Emery’s Villa booked their place in the last four with goals from Marcus Rashford and Jacob Ramsey. The Birmingham club is seeking its first major trophy since 1996 and a first FA Cup victory since 1957.
Crystal Palace and the South London side also put together another impressive performance when they secured a 3-0 victory against Fulham which left them on course for a third-ever FA Cup final and first success in the competition. Elsewhere, Manchester City, despite having struggled in the league and Champions League, remain the favoured team to grab a seventh FA Cup crown.
The winners of this year’s FA Cup will qualify for a Europa League spot, with the semi-final fixtures taking place over the weekend of April 26.
