12-year-old Kaitlyn Yozviak has died from a horrific head lice infestation that had been sucking her blood. The little girl was said to have had a fatal cardiac arrest that stemmed from anemia. Her parents, Mary Katherine Horton aged 37, and Joey Yozviak aged 38 have been arrested and are accused of second-degree murder and second-degree child cruelty. It has been reported that the deceased had been living in a dirty room filled with pests swarming over her bed, furniture, and keepsakes. Medical professionals have reported that the infestation on the late girl’s hair was horrible and that the little girl endured a lot of pain before she died.

A special police agent has told the superior court that it was probable that Kaitlyn’s low blood levels were a result of repeated bites from the lice on her scalp. Neighbors have noted that before Kaitlyn died, she was rarely seen in her parent’s yard for up to two months before her death. The Georgia DFSC (Division of Family and children services has prior removed the deceased’s two siblings (brothers) citing unsanitary conditions as the reason. Miss Kaitlyn Yozviak has been described as a nice, sweet girl by her teachers, with one teacher confessing to not having noticed anything off until the schoolgirl’s demise.
