In Maiduguri in the early hours of Sunday morning, February 26, the fire had razed down large sections of the famous Monday Market, the biggest market in Borno State.

The cause of the fire had not been ascertained at the time of writing this report. But eyewitnesses reckon that the fire began between 2:30 am and 3 am.
