Meanwhile, the UN’s meteorological branch has castigated the warning systems that were put in Libya.
The World Meteorological Organization–WMO, secretary-general Petteri Taalas had said that if a normally operating meteorological service had been in place, proper warnings could have been issued, saving hundreds of lives.
Taalas had additionally, revealed that the WMO had previously tried to assist Libyan authorities with improving the meteorological system, but these efforts had been prevented by security threats.
