The former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, in a reaction to the decision of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend him, had said that the moves had come as a ‘rude surprise and shock’ to him.
This was after the PDP National Working Committee, -NWC, had on Friday, January 20, suspended Nnamani and eight other members for suspected anti-party activities.
Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, who made the revelation remarked that the decision had been in line with the party’s constitution.
Recall that regardless of being a PDP chieftain, Nnamani had been openly supporting the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker in a statement he released after the development had said he didn’t get a fair hearing.
In his words:
“I was not also invited to any meeting, proceeding or hearing of the NWC of the PDP where my alleged offence (s) was/were discussed. I was therefore, not given the opportunity to make representations on my behalf at any meeting where the proposal and final decision to suspend me from the party was made.
“I am therefore appealing to all of my supporters to remain calm and law abiding while we continue the campaign to a hopefully victorious conclusion. To God be the glory.”
