The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, accusing him of constitutional recklessness and despotic tendencies. The ruling party’s national spokesperson, Barrister Felix Morka, addressed a press conference at the APC national secretariat, warning Fubara against “abrogating” the nation’s constitution and assuming dictatorial powers over the Rivers State House of Assembly. Fubara whose political journey had been interfered by Godfatherism quota system and nepotism seems to be maverick against oppositions and has publicly declared himself winner of the ongoing rift against Nyesom Wike and all his agitator.
The crisis erupted after Fubara declared 27 House of Assembly members who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC as “non-existent.” The APC has vehemently rejected this move, labeling it a gross violation of the constitution and an attempt to undermine the democratic process.
Morka emphasized that Fubara’s actions are a clear threat to the nation’s democratic fabric, stating, “The APC will not stand idly by while Governor Fubara turns himself into the ‘despot-in-chief’ of the Rivers State House of Assembly. We urge him to submit himself to the dictates of the constitution and respect the rights of the people’s elected representatives.”
The APC’s swift response has raised questions about the party’s motivations and the potential implications for the political landscape in Rivers State. Political analysts are closely watching the situation, wondering if this marks the beginning of a larger power struggle between the APC and the PDP in the state.
Nigerians are left wondering what’s next for the people of Rivers State. Will Fubara back down, or will he continue to assert his authority over the House of Assembly? The APC’s strong stance has made one thing clear: this is a battle for constitutional supremacy, and only time will tell who will emerge victorious.
Words on the street:
– “Fubara is trying to be a dictator, he can’t just disregard the constitution like that!”
– “APC is just trying to destabilize the government, they can’t accept defeat.”
– “This is a clear case of executive recklessness, Fubara must be held accountable.”
– “The constitution is clear, Fubara has overstepped his bounds.”
– “APC is just trying to protect their interests, they don’t care about the people.”
– “Fubara is a victim of political persecution, APC is just trying to silence him.”
– “This crisis is a threat to our democracy, we must stand up against impunity.”
– “Fubara has failed the people of Rivers State, he must be held accountable.”
Hmm this country nawa oo… Nice write up by the creator right there, delivered the message as it is.
Thanks.
Dictatorship shouldn’t be upheld in this country…a really interesting and concise write up by the way…I encourage the creator to keep it up.
Thanks
It’s not exactly full blown dictatorship, Nigeria is a democratic country with division of power and Constitutional framework. Fubara response could be label as a authoritarian.
