Popular Nigerian musician Slimcase has expressed concern that Afrobeat music is becoming monotonous due to the constant stream of new releases from artistes.

In a post on his Instagram story, the singer said the genre is losing its excitement and encouraged fellow musicians to take a more measured approach to releasing songs.

“Too many songs and albums. Una too Dey put una self for pressure for this Niger sha. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna. Do other things, come back to give us a fresh vibe,” he wrote.

Slimcase added that the flood of music is preventing fans from fully enjoying individual tracks, diluting the impact of the genre.

“Your sounds are getting boring because dem be coming too much in a year. I owe dem a song this year and that is it. It is only God that is New every morning. Everyday, and every second singles & albums dey kiiii afrobeats gradually it is not fun anymore,” he said in pidgin.
