German authorities sprang into action in response to reports of two youths allegedly wielding what appeared to be a firearm in a Hamburg classroom on Wednesday.
Police swiftly took four children, aged 12 to 14, into temporary custody, later determining that two of them were responsible and that the item in question was, in fact, a toy gun.
The remaining students were relocated to a nearby military barracks, where they awaited their parents’ arrival. Investigations into the incident are currently underway, the police reported.
