Germany to Relocate Patriot System from Slovakia to Lithuania for NATO Summit Security

In a bid to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, Germany has announced plans to transfer its Patriot missile defense system, currently stationed in Slovakia, to Lithuania, according to a statement from the country’s defense ministry.

Germany currently has two Patriot units deployed in Slovakia and an additional three in Poland. The defense ministry stated that the Patriot units from Slovakia, along with supporting elements from Poland, will be relocated to Lithuania to bolster the ground-based air defense measures for the NATO summit. Consequently, this decision marks the conclusion of the deployment in Slovakia.

While the defense ministry has not disclosed specific details regarding the components from the mission in Poland that will be included in the deployment, a spokesperson for the ministry had declined to provide further information.
