There have been several agitations for the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, as according to them, his health is deteriorating and he needs to be checked into a private hospital. Enugu state Governor, Governor Mbah raised this discourse in a meeting with the president.

Governor Mbah addressed State House correspondents following a private meeting with the President on Thursday. The possible release of Nnamdi Kanu, as he had received favourable judgements from the court.

The release of Nnamdi Kanu was a significant point of discussion during the meeting. The South East region has collectively demanded his release, and they fully support this demand. They conveyed their identification with the demand and requested the President, who pledged in his inaugural address to promote national healing and govern with compassion, to consider it as an extension of his administration’s hand of fellowship.

In essence, they informed the President that granting this release would serve as a clear indication of his commitment to fostering unity and reconciliation.

“And finally, we also of course, talked about the release of Nnamdi Kanu. You know, that the South East has made a collective demand to have Nnamdi Kanu released. And we basically identified with that and request Mr. President, who in his inaugural address promised the people that he’s going to engender national healing and he’s going to serve with compassion.”

“So, we’ve basically informed him that this would serve as a pointer to his administration’s extension of hands of fellowship.”
