The Gombe State Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress on Monday, 13 March 2023 had said that opposition parties were making smear efforts to destroy the image of the incumbent governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, and his associates in a bid to woo prospective voters.
According to the Director, Media & Publicity of the APC campaign council, Mr. Ismaila Misilli, the opposition had capitalized on the extension to tally cheap political points.
But the name of the political party had not been revealed.
The statement Misilli had released, had partly read:
“Gombe State is known for its political non-violence, tolerance, and stability. Therefore, we must strive to see the elections as a family affair, devoid of rancor, ill-will, and bitterness.”
“We are also cautioning that planning evil to shelve their plot as the people of Gombe are solidly behind Governor Inuwa Yahaya and will back him up for a second mandate on Saturday, March 18, In Sha Allah.”
