Gunmen killed HRH Alhaji Tanimu Kunbiya, the traditional ruler of Chanchangi in Taraba state’s Takum local government area.
The tragic incident allegedly occurred along the Takum-Chanchangi road. The monarch was supposed to be returning from a funeral service in Takum when his assassins attacked.
Dr. Agbu Kefas, the governor of Taraba State, acknowledged the occurrence in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello.
Kefas denounced the crime as savage and directed security personnel to pursue the offenders.
He also sympathised with the grieving family and others of the community. He spoke of his administration’s determination to cleanse the state of banditry and all forms of criminality.
