Suspended Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has bitten hard back at Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, with a N30 billion libel suit. This is in response to the suspension announcement by Rollas on social media for alleged slander of Nollywood.
Abubakar, still recovering from health issues, has reacted that she was never given an opportunity to address the charges before the public suspension.
Her lawyers accused Rollas of intentionally trying to damage her reputation while in such a vulnerable state and forthwith demanded an immediate retraction and public apology, along with colossal damages for emotional distress and reputational harm.
A seven day ultimatum to Rollas has left the Nollywood community on tenterhooks as to whether the dust will be taken to court.
