Manchester United FC defender Harry Maguire was given a 15-month suspended prison sentence by a Greek court after a retrial for an incident that happened on the island of Mykonos in August 2020.
The England international was first given a 21-month and 10-day suspended sentence in 2020 after being found guilty of repeated bodily harm, attempted bribery, violence against public employees, and insult. His legal team quickly filed an appeal, and under Greek law, that canceled the original conviction and set off a full retrial.
After being delayed a few times from 2023 to 2025, the proceedings finally picked up again in Syros this week. The court ended up finding Maguire guilty of non-serious assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery. The charges were less serious than what was initially decided, so the sentence was lighter.

Sources say Maguire is still denying any wrongdoing and plans to take his case to Greece’s Supreme Court to try to clear his name.
Even with the legal stuff going on, the 32-year-old is still in the mix and will be part of United’s squad for their Premier League game against Newcastle United.
