Detained Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, has been transferred from Rikers Island prison to Bellevue Hospital in New York on September 9th, 2024. The director experienced an emergency heart surgery.
The 72-year old ex- filmmaker was hospitalized for pericardiocentesis, a procedure whereby fluid from the heart and lungs are drained. His lawyer, Craig Rothfeld, said his client is in pain due to the surgery he underwent and has other severe health complications.
Weinstein is currently serving a 23 year sentence in New York prison and was convicted of sexual assault in LA in the year 2020. He has also denied any wrong doing despite having more than 90 women accusing him of sexual misconduct.
