Famous Social media activist VeryDarkMan has taken a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, holding him responsible for the unchecked killings by suspected herdsmen.
He warned that the escalating violence, especially in states like Edo and Benue, could spark a religious conflict if left unaddressed.
In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, he called out the government for ignoring the situation despite repeated warnings.
“Alright, so dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today is your birthday but I cannot wish you a happy birthday because you yourself don’t wish your people well. If you wish your people well, you will understand that this whole herdsmen issue is slowly gaining strength, and very soon, it might result in a religious war in Nigeria.”
VeryDarkMan criticised the silence surrounding the crisis, questioning why both the media and government seemed reluctant to take decisive action. He referenced the recent attack in Uromi, Edo State, expressing frustration that it happened before he could visit the community.
“It feels like the government is afraid of this herdsmen issue,” he said. “They don’t want to talk about it. Now, look at where it is heading. Next thing, it will turn into a religious war because Northerners are now claiming that Muslims are being killed. And for some reason, the media doesn’t want this matter to get attention.”
He also pointed out what he considered misplaced priorities, citing the government’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State while insecurity from herdsmen remained largely ignored.
While criticising the authorities, he also cautioned against jungle justice, recalling a moment in his life when he almost became a victim.
“Jungle justice is never the way. No matter what, I will always condemn it. I will never support jungle justice. Never!”
Concluding his message, he urged President Tinubu to act swiftly before the situation spirals out of control.
“Be careful, this thing will give birth to a religious war very soon. We are slowly approaching it.”
