Popular Nigerian content creator and musician Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhohwo Efe, has risen to the top of Africa’s Twitch scene, becoming the most-followed streamer on the continent after a massively successful livestream with Afrobeats superstar Davido.
With the feat, Carter Efe surpassed fellow Nigerian comedian and content creator Adesokan Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, who previously held the record.

The sudden rise followed a widely publicised Twitch livestream on Wednesday featuring Davido, which triggered a surge in Carter Efe’s follower count. Platform data showed that he had crossed 405,000 followers as of Thursday, while Shank Comics currently stands at about 233,000 followers, according to checks.
The growth was described as meteoric. Carter Efe reportedly jumped from roughly 322,000 followers earlier in the week, gaining close to 160,000 new followers in just four days. Observers linked the spike directly to the announcement and execution of the star-studded livestream.
The broadcast itself broke additional records. Davido was said to have set a new benchmark for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa, attracting approximately 83,000 live viewers. He also became the first African streamer to cross the 20,000-subscriber mark on the platform.
During the session, Davido linked Carter Efe with several notable personalities, including his wife and popular nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest. He also made a shout-out to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy during the stream.
The show featured other surprise moments, including a phone call with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, which excited fans and brought a sporting twist to the event.
Adding to the entertainment, fellow content creator Enzo made an unexpected appearance and jokingly challenged Carter Efe to a spontaneous boxing match to “prove” his allegiance to Davido’s 30BG fan base.
The unscripted moment quickly caught fire online, sparking massive reactions and further cementing the livestream as one of the most talked-about digital events in recent times.
