Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority, GNPA has declared its removal of the country’s fuel subsidy.
The removal of the subsidy is coming as part of the country’s regulatory measures to ensure the downstream sector stability.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also urged the Nigerian government to deliver on its promise to remove fuel subsidies by mid-2023.
Abdul Hamid, NPA’s CEO stated this at a presentation at the ongoing Africa Refiners and Distributors Week 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa.
According to Hamid, the Ghanaian government, through the NPA, had additionally removed energy subsidies while revealing that plans had been put in place to respond to the global oil and petrol market volatility caused by the Russian-Ukraine war and energy transition policies.
