Chinonyerem Ini Ememobong has been chosen as the first female chairman of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria in the Akwa Ibom State.
Ime Asibong, who recently completed a two-year term, is succeeded by Mrs. Ememobong, who is the most recent Vice-chairperson and third chairperson of the institute in the state.
Ememobong stated in a speech shortly after her investiture on Tuesday in Uyo, delivered by Justice Ntong Ntong, that she saw her election as a chance to positively alter corporate governance within her region as an opportunity to write history.
The policy reformer and maritime law expert said her administration is prepared to make great efforts to change such a distasteful narrative through extensive sensitization campaigns and frequent training. She identified a lack of transparency and the use of unskilled personnel as the bane of the nation’s development trajectory.
She recognized the contributions made by previous chapter presidents to the growth of the Institute and vowed to lead inclusive governance to achieve desired objectives.
