Industrial Strike Himders Emefiele’s Arraignment

The purported indictment of the ex-Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been hampered at the Federal Capital Territory High court, following the industrial strike the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria –JUSUN, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court branch, embarked on.

JUSUN had ordered its members to join the industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, over an attack on Joe Ajareo, the NLC President, in Imo State on November 1.

A visit to the court by a Channels Television’s journalist on Wednesday, November 15 showed a locked gate and zero legal practitioner presence in the court premises.

Recall that Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, had just last week granted Emefiele bail, issuing the order that he should be set free immediately to his lawyers, who were charged with the responsibility of ensuring he appeared in court for his arraignment today (Wednesday), or at any other day.

This was after EFCC had failed to produce Emefiele in court last week Monday, but the anti-graft agency had eventually caved to the order of the court and brought the former CBN chief court on the Wednesday of last week for the hearing of his bail application.
