The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that its “senior officials” were currently probing the incident(s) of pre-filled election result sheets in Ogori/Magongo, Eika/Ohizenyi and a few other areas of Kogi State.
A civil society organisation, YIAGA Africa, had on Saturday morning, through a post made on X (formerly known as Twitter), raised the alarm that results sheets had been pre-filled in Kogi before voting officially began on Saturday, November 11.
YIAGA Africa had additionally, urged INEC to investigate the matter and “immediately protect/guard the integrity of the process”.
In a similar manner, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, had raised the alarm about the incident in Ogori/Magongo, pointing accusing fingers to the ruling party: All Progressives Congress, APC, claiming that they were trying to undermine the election.
INEC had swiftly responded to these allegations, saying that its officials were looking into the matter presently, and that a decision would be conveyed in earnest.
